Su Ji is a visual artist based in Seoul, South Korea, and Brooklyn, New York, passionate about the medium of photography and installation. Her works are based on the exploration of the formal qualities that challenge both existing and conceptual space within the optical realm. Being fully aware of the actuality and reality that are embedded in a photographic medium, the subject matters are carefully chosen to perform in front of the lens. The works do not settle on being mere documentation yet provide distinct narratives of each of their occupations. Here, the artist welcomes you to her part of the universe and hopes the viewers to visually get soaked in.
Su Ji is currently enrolled in Pratt Institute majoring in Photography and minoring in Museum and Gallery Practices. She is the recipient of the 2020 Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Award and the 2019 Made in NYC Fellowship. Her ongoing series, Flat Space, was also exhibited in COSO Gallery, Seoul, South Korea and in numerous publications such as VOSTOK Magazine, PHMuseum, and YET Magazine.
