Seungbin Yang is a designer who makes various objects through traditional crafting and storytelling.
He graduated with BA Public Private and MA Contextual Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven in Netherlands. After study, he ran a Studio Seungbin Yang in Eindhoven of Netherlands, and he is continuing his design studio in South Korea.
Starting with the '21g' series, he continues the 'Lacquered Forms' and 'Simulacre' series. Through research that applies lacquer that have traditionally been applied on wooden objects to various properties, he makes three-dimensional objects with paper recognized as light and weak, and apply lacquer on them.
Later, the recent 'Requiem' series produced works that combined fictional archaeology into objects based on his own storytelling design.
Seungbin Yang’s work is part of the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) in London, England and Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
