Ugly Mug is a handmade ceramic mug, which is the first ‘Ugly’ series of Positiv. Ugly Mug includes all the traces of touch and the failures the designer encountered during the production. As the more he tries to make it beautiful and perfect, the further it was away from his satisfaction, he decided to make an object that has dialogues and natural details/flaws. This adorable mug presents a true beauty and charm from its imperfections. The shape and gloss of the mug changes as viewed from different angles, giving a new feeling all the time.

Our design begins with explorations of a material and its own pure beauty. Positiv highlights the natural shape of the materials created with their different surroundings and distinct characteristics. The unique textures of wood holding its history inside, unpredictable shapes of stones that embrace the narratives of nature, and surface of the glass gleaming in the sunlight.
