The work begins with thoughts about the form of life. What makes us valuable is not the possession of something, but every moment along the way.
The series faithfully archives small portions of the present using ebonizing and carving techniques that incorporate time and the experiences of that time. Through ebonizing, which slowly reveals a deep black color through multiple coats of paint, and carving, which forms new textures through repetitive body movements, we attempted to place weight on the moment-by-moment process. The layer of time goes beyond thinking and completes a direct tactile experience.
